Position Overview
Discovery Works Collaborative is seeking a talented, detail-oriented Graphic Designer with 5–8 years of professional experience to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a versatile designer who can confidently execute across print, digital, social media, and video formats, and who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong visual storytelling skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling communications. Experience in public sector communications, political campaigns, or issue-based advocacy is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities
Design and produce high-quality creative across multiple channels, including:
Print (direct mail, brochures, signage, reports, presentations)
Digital (web graphics, digital ads, email)
Social media (organic and paid content, platform-specific creative, campaign graphics)
Video (basic animation, video editing, short-form content)
Collaborate with strategists, researchers, and communications leads to develop compelling visual concepts
Develop brand identities for community engagement programs and campaigns that reflect community input, client goals, and existing client brand standards
Develop engaging, platform-appropriate visuals for channels such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others
Capture and produce basic photo and video content for client projects when needed
Maintain consistency across all client deliverables
Maintain well-organized project files, image libraries, design assets, templates, and final deliverables so team members can easily find, access, and use materials across client projects.
Prepare files for production and manage print, digital, and mailing specifications
Manage print production and mailing with vendors, including gathering bids, reviewing cost estimates, and staying current on vendor specifications that may affect budget, timelines, or delivery
Translate data and research findings into visually engaging graphics and presentations
Support campaign-style work, including rapid-turn creative and iterative revisions
Stay current on design trends, formats, platforms, and creative approaches to ensure materials feel fresh, innovative, and audience-appropriate
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Ensure meticulous attention to detail in all deliverables
Qualifications
5–8 years of professional graphic design experience
Strong portfolio demonstrating work across print, digital, social media, and video
Proven experience creating high-performing social media content (organic and/or paid)
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro)
Experience using Canva for fast-turn, templated, or collaborative design workflows
Comfortable using Google Drive and associated tools
Understanding of social media best practices, formats, and platform specifications
Experience designing for campaigns, public sector clients, or advocacy initiatives preferred
Strong typography, layout, and visual hierarchy skills
Experience with basic video production, including shooting and editing content
Ability to create short-form, social-first video content (Reels, Stories, TikTok-style, etc.)
Ability to take creative direction and incorporate feedback quickly
Highly organized with excellent time management skills
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
Work Environment & Benefits
Part-time role (30 hours/week guaranteed) with potential to scale up to 40 hours/week during busy periods
Hybrid work environment:
2 days per week in-office (St. Louis area)
Remaining days remote
