Charlie Leonard is an expert in public opinion, public policy and electoral strategy. His experience in the public and private organizations is extensive. He served as executive director of the Grawemeyer Awards and Grawemeyer Scholars Program at the University of Louisville; as visiting professor at the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute and Chancellor’s Scholars Program at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale; director of the Eugene McDermott Scholars Program at the University of Texas-Dallas; associate professor of political science at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri; senior research associate and director of research at Attitude Research Company in St. Louis; editor of Finan Publishing Company in St. Louis; and account manager at UNICOM Group. He also worked in the media, including as arts and entertainment section editor at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat; managing editor of St. Louis Magazine; production and continuity director at KADI-FM St. Louis; and associate editor for METRO, the Tabloid. Charlie earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his master’s degree and doctorate in political science from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Charlie and his wife, Dr. Kimberly Leonard, are the parents of two grown sons. When he’s not working, Charlie enjoys hiking, fishing, camping and traveling. He says keeping up with the restaurant scene in St. Louis is a never-ending challenge, but “I’m up to it.”
